With summer just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about warm weather volunteer recognition and appreciation ideas. One that we had done at Appreciate Volunteers was an ice cream social. It turned out fun and one that was talked about for months following.

See some of our tips as well as how we did it here. We had to make this work on a budget and we were able to serve up a nice party along with good ice cream, frozen yogurt and sherbert. We also gave out thank you gifts to the volunteers who helped us with the set up and clean up. We also offer you ideas for simple and inexpensive ways to say thanks to the volunteers who attend.

Punch is an easy drink to serve at summer parties. I have put together a list of colorful and bright ones at Party Punches for All Occasions. Full recipes are given here. Even though some are designed for events like weddings, they can work just as easily at your volunteer recognition and appreciation events.

Punches are much less expensive to serve as a drink than providing sodas, coffee and teas to cover all guests desires. But, at your ice cream social don’t be afraid to add in coffee and tea. Also not terribly expensive and both go very nicely with ice cream.
